DeSoto ISD to Introduce VOLY System to Streamline Volunteer Process

Next week, DeSoto ISD will launch VOLY. VOLY.org is an easy-to-use, web-based system that connects school and district volunteers with hundreds of volunteer opportunities to put their passion for education to work. This fully hosted, cloud-based solution lets volunteers quickly and easily sign up for opportunities that match their personal missions and individual schedules—from their computers or their mobile devices. Voly is a simple and effective way to engage and manage district volunteers.

Voly streamlines the registration and background check approval process. Upon completion of the registration process and completed background check, volunteers will be able to resolve an online volunteer orientation to provide important information prior to volunteering.

The DeSoto ISD Voly link will be emailed to parents through TEAMS next week. For questions or additional information, contact Student Support Services at 972.223.6666 x8214 or email volunteer@desotoisd.org.

News Alert!

The clear bag requirement is just one of a number of safety initiatives the district will implement for the upcoming school year.
Clear backpacks will be required for students in grades pre-K to 12.  Students would still be able to use band and athletic bags, purses and lunch bags which are subject to search and wanding. Those interested, can also purchase clear backpacks at Wal-Mart and Target among other retailers.

Other new safety measures include increased monitoring of all exterior doors and entrance intercom systems. The district will also implement random searches and provide emergency situation training for teachers and administrators. The district also plans to hire additional police officers.
